Florida Racing October 2007 or "What I did on my summer Vacation" |
|
![]() This is the Emerald Coast Dragway in Holt Florida, just north and East about 30 miles of Pensacola Florida. |
![]() \It was a little chilly Friday night for them, 62 and a stiff southern breeze of about 20 mph. |
|
What surprised me the most was the caliber of cars competing. Quite a few bikes, a lot of street cars but very few Hi Performance cars. It is an 1/8th mile track and the fastest street cars were running 8.08. the Hi Po's were running in the mid 6's and they were thinking that was fast. I'm talking about cars that were running 2 stage Nitrous systems, chips and turbos, and big cubes. Up by us aren't we running in the mid to low 5's and better? And to top it off, the guy at the results booth at the end of the track was claiming that the cars were running better than normal because of the cool air! |

Nice timing tower, but the announcers barely said 2 words the 2 1/2 hours I was there. Shell didn't get a shot of my first run which I went up against a 88 Camaro Z28 and whooped him by 2 seconds, his run was 11.8 and mine was 9.4. Here is my second run and I just warmed up my tires |

And low and behold they set me up against an 06 ZO6 Vette. He ran a 8.08 and I ran a consistent 9.4. |
You can see here his taillights starting to pull in front of me. |
|
This is my third race and they put me up
against a 1986 Camaro SS. He ran a 9.8 and I ran a 9.4. Not bad for a
totally stock car. Every race was a consistent 9.4 for me. My RT's were excellent that night. The first race I treed'd it at .424, the second was a .431 and the third was a .525. Normally at home I fall asleep at the wheel and usually have a .92 or 1.01 RT. |
